Description

This magnetic disc, also known as “round magnet”, is made of SmCo, the name of an alloy consisting of mainly Samarium (Sm) and Cobalt (Co). Like Neodymium, they are produced with the sinterization technique.

Samarium-Cobalt magnets offer an appealing balance between attraction force and temperature resistance. In fact, they are considerably stronger than ferrite, while offering the same, if not an enhanced temperature and corrosion resistance. Besides from SmCo, the only real alternative for extremely hot environments are only Alnico magnets, with a limit of 650 °C.

Another added feature is that SmCo magnets can also operate reliably at near-cryogenic temperatures (-150 °C), making them ideal for extremely cold environments as well.

All the features above, combined with their strong coercitivity, make them the ideal choice in many specific applications, such as sensors, relays, electric motors, lab equipment and many more!

If you need other types of SmCo or different sizes, click this link to send us a request.

Please note: SmCo magnets can break easily since they are quite brittle. Therefore, we recommend being careful while handling them.
