What are Ferrite Magnets?

Ferrite Magnets, also called Ceramic Magnets, are cheap and resistant magnets made of a ceramic material with a large portion of iron oxide (Fe2O3) and metals like strontium, barium, manganese, nickel or zinc. They are  dark grey in color and appear less polished than the Neodymium ones.

They are very resistant to high temperatures, oxidation(rust) and corrosion. Unlike other ferromagnetic materials, standard ferrite is not electrically conductive.

Are Ferrite Magnets the cheapest magnets?

On average Ferrite Magnets are 5 times cheaper than standard(N35) neodymium magnets and can be considered the cheapest option among all magnets (AlNiCo, SmCo, etc..). The final price is affected by the size and shape of the magnet and the market cost of raw materials. Iron in used in both kinds of magnets, but Neodymium Magnets contain also relevant quantities of rare earth elements, whose price is gone up quite significantly in recent years.

How strong is a Ferrite Magnet?

The strength of a Ferrite magnet depends on multiple factors like size and shape, but, on average, they are about 7-8 times weaker than their neodymium counterparts. What is the maximum temperature at which ferrite magnets can be used?

What are the possible coatings for ferrite magnets?

Usually Ferrite Magnets don’t need any coating or surface treatment. They are already waterproof, safe to use in contact with the skin, and very resistant to high temperatures and corrosion. Anyway, we can produce magnets with nickel, rubber, plastic, resin, zinc, black epoxy, white epoxy and gold coatings! Our magnets can have iron, plastic, rubber or PVC casings.
